Dip. in Ministry

Candidates who do not have a prior B.A. degree or equivalent may apply for admission to the McGill University Bachelor of Theology (B.Th.) programme (90 credits) plus the In Ministry Year. These students are eligible for the Diploma in Ministry (Dip.Min.) awarded by the Montreal School of Theology.

The Programme

Either one or two additional years of study in arts subjects may be required at the beginning of the B.Th. programme.

The two years of academic theological study in the McGill B.Th. programme, and the In-Ministry Year, are in most respects identical to the three years of the M.Div. programme. College requirements are the same.

Successful completion of the programme will lead to the award of the McGill B.Th. degree and the College Dip.Min.

Entrance Requirements

At the time of admission, the student is normally expected to have completed one year of New Testament Greek. (A summer course, equivalent to one full year, is usually offered at McGill.)

In certain circumstances the Greek requirement may be waived.

The same conditions regarding diocesan sponsorship apply as for the M.Div. degree.

Application Procedure

Application is for the M.Div. programme, except where an academic reference is not available and a second general reference may be accepted.

The number of people without a prior degree who may be admitted to College programmes is limited by the rules of the College's accreditation.
